The Fairbanks North Star Borough is developing a new Recreational Trails Plan that will be the primary decision-making tool guiding FNSB and its partners to prioritize the allocation of available resources to local trails.

The updated Comprehensive Recreational Trails Plan is available and is going through its final step of the approval process. 

The Assembly will review the Final Plan through a public hearing on November 10th, 2022. *Final vote postponed to June 8, 202

COMPREHENSIVE RECREATIONAL TRAILS PLAN UPDATED - APPROVAL PROCESS UNDERWAY!

 

Thank you for helping us understand more about trails you use in the Borough, what is important to the community, and for helping us make decisions on how to allocate the Borough's limited resources. The Trails Plan Team has analyzed and incorporated your feedback on the Draft Trails Plan and Recommendation Maps into a Pre-Final version of the Plan. After a successful public review and approval processes, concluding with adoption by the Assembly, the Trails Plan will become Final

 

 

 

Review & Approval Process Includes:

  1.  Trails Advisory Commission: Recommended Assembly approval of Trails Plan on August 1, 2022

  2.  FNSB Assembly: Referred Plan to Planning Commission and Platting Board on August 25, 2022

  3.  Planning Commission: recommended Assembly approval on September 13, 2022

  4.  Platting Board: recommended Assembly approval September 21, 2022

  5.  FNSB Assembly: Public hearing on approval of ordinance to adopt updated Trails Plan on November 10, 2022 (FINAL VOTE POSTPONED TO FEBRUARY 23rd, 2023)

  6.  FNSB Assembly: Continued debate and vote on approval of Ordinance 2022-47 on February 23, 2023. (FINAL VOTE POSTPONED AGAIN TO JUNE 8, 2023. PLAN REFERRED TO PLATTING BOARD FOR RECOMMENDATIONS TO ASSEMBLY)

  7.  FNSB Platting Board work session to discuss Assembly's request for recommendations April 19, 2023.

  8.  FNSB Platting Board: Held public hearing to craft recommendations to Assembly, May 17, 2023.

  9.  FNSB Assembly: Continued debate and vote on approval of Ordinance 2022-47 on June 8, 2023.
