2023 Trails Plan

The Trails Plan was introduced to the FNSB Assembly on November 10, 2022. After postponements, referrals and multiple amendments, the Assembly voted to adopt the Trails Plan as an element of the Borough Regional Comprehensive Plan on June 20, 2023. Final adopted versions of the plan and maps are available to reference via the links below.

Trail Recommendation Maps

*Links below are not the final maps proposed for adoption but are designed for faster review. They do not reflect modifications made by the Planning Commission and Platting Board. To view the Trail Plan Maps proposed for adoption by the Assembly, click here.

Maps illustrate the issues to be addressed and goals to be achieved. The Maps and this Trails Plan preserve the future opportunity; trails may not be developed, but they have to be in the Plan to be considered for protection, development and maintenance.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) provides maps to support the update of the Comprehensive Recreational Trails Plan for planning and informational purposes only, and in doing so the FNSB does not encourage use of trails, or sections of trails, that have not been formally dedicated for public use in a recorded legal document. Trails depicted in the documents and maps develped through this planning process are tentatively proposed for eventual protection and management for recreational use. Public access across the trails is not guaranteed. The maps and data provided are not intended for use as navigational tools. The maps and data may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. The maps and data are made available on the condition that users agree that the FNSB will not be held liable for any loss, injury, or damage of any kind, whether direct or indirect, resulting from any errors or omissions in the maps or data.
